The Style Icon Awards  2013 by Mnet has happened. It's an awards show I actually care about since its relating to style. This is a hot or not/best dressed and worst dressed list from me. It is solely my opinion and do not reflect the opinions of everyone at K-world Style. I have one of these previously did for Mnet's 20's Choice. This also includes my commentary, because…hey why not use two tags with one post?

On the big night, the big stars didn't wear much colour, which is sad. It is already depressing enough how cold and short the days are getting. Generally those who wear black plays it safe. Most likely they all did since no one wants to look bad at a fashion awards show. Either way they have achieved their goals, nobody looks horrible which is always a nice thing on the red carpet. I am not blown away but there are definite stand outs.

Hot

Gong Hyo Jin
I love Gong Hyo Jin's style and all her collaborations. She looks good with her layers and mixture of textures. Her dress isn't simply black, it has depth to it. The polka dot patterned mesh gives her an illusion of warmth and pushes her look out of the boring zone. I don't have much more to say, she just looks good. I like how her hairs and booties match.

Lee Jong Suk
The year's fastest rising star. It is obvious he's to have been selected with his strong fanbase, popularity and proportions. His outfit is well put together, his stylists must of put a lot of thought into it. A+ for Lee Jong Suk, his stylist, fans, parents and luck.

SNSD's Sooyoung: Hot but something's off...
No one can deny Sooyoung looks hot. However, something seems off. When I look at this, her legs are screaming for warmth. Her dress is very short as it just covers her tosh. I know they want to showcase her long legs but I can't help but think the dress is supposed to be longer or was for those who are shorter. The model's legs in this dress from the retailer looks shorter than Sooyoung's. I think maybe Sooyoung's so skinny, they put her in a dress a smaller size which was also shorter in length.

G-Dragon
G-Dragon wins the highest award so his position on this list is obligated. His whole 2013 year is great from his appearances to his Crooked MV. The only thing I have is that G-Dragon is wearing Saint Laurent. That's very predictable and because his overall look this year is the same as the appeal what Saint Laurent is trying to protrude. Also, he has been wearing so much Saint Laurent…but good for him for being loyal. He will make a great representative for any brand.

So So

4minute's Gayoon and Shin Ji Hoon
I like how Gayoon is wearing a suit instead of a dress and the colour is great. However, her partner is so plain. They have been photographed as a pair so I am taking them as a pair.

Not

Dal Shabet's Subin: Poor girl...
Poor girl, she is the one that fell on the red carpet. Sure it gains her some attention but it usually means something is wrong with her outfit. Unwritten rule for the red carpet is if you show legs, you don't show bust and vice versa. Sometimes it is not followed but I think its a great thing to follow. Now, if you split Subin in half, both halves are pretty good. However, together, its tragic. I feel sorry for her but she is still dressed badly.

Crayon Pop: Not Ready for Normalcy

Oh Crayon Pop, I get that the whole jumping and jumping song with the helmet is their trademark. I highly doubt anyone will recognize them without it. Really sucks for them style-wise. Their combination of helmets with polos, tennis skirts and athletic pants is unsightly. Even with the upgraded gold-ness and sparkle, their outfits are just tacky. People rarely see Crayon Pop in "normal" clothing so this would have been a great time to demonstrate if they are fashionable. Say, if they are so stunning on the red carpet, the buzz they will have created. With that momentum = public recognition without helmets. What a great opportunity lost.

Clara C

Her outfit is like she tried to look like a Hersey's kiss but failed miserably. That fabric is not appearing well in photographs or well for the drapes. Very rarely can a technique of fashion designing look cheap but that draping looks so cheap. Clara's other garment looks a lot better but this one is the mostly heavily photographed one.

There are more people that appears but too many to categorize.

So who do you think looks "Hot" and who looks "Not"? Leave a comment below on anything! If you agree or disagree with me, I want to hear your opinion.

How's everyone enjoying Good Doctor?
For those who hasn't watched the latest episode (17) of Good Doctor, don't worry, I won't spoil anything. After episode 17, there will be episode 18 with that awesome moment *_*.

This post features some clothes Moon Chae Yeon's character, Cha Yoon Seo, and Kim Min Seo's character, Yoo Chae Kyung wear. Most of the pieces are quite pricey, but you can find similar styles easily.

In this one scene, Yoo Seo wears a red plaid shirt under her doctor coat that transfer after see changes out into a black jacket. This shirt is from the brand, Maje, the Degriffe Oversized Plaid Cotton Shirt featuring a leather patch pocket. Click the image below to buy it.

If the price is too steep for you (probably is), Forever 21 has a similar one for 22$ here.

While eating fresh with that obvious sponsoring from Subway, Yoo Seo enjoys her food with a flare blouse under her black sweater. The blouse is by Kenzo, the Cloud-print Cotton Shirt, click the image to buy it.

Lastly, Chae Kyung's floral coat. It is quite the statement piece, isn't? The brand that makes it is Obzee Kang Ji Young, it is from their S/S 2013 collection. There are no available retailers online that sell this jacket.

Leave a comment, tell me if you liked the post. Not sure how many people watch Good Doctor.
Last thing, this post is supposed to go up on Dramafever news, I'm not sure when. I put this into editing about 2 - 3 days ago. Don't be weirded out if you see this somewhere else.
Special feature! Your favourites are dispersed throughout this rating in K-world Style's version of 'Best Dressed' and 'Worse Dressed' from Mnet's 20's Choice Awards blue carpet. We call this 'Hot or Not' for continuation purposes. Also this includes my commentary and feelings about their choices.

Note: This is purely my sole opinion, others may agree with me while some may disagree with me. It does not reflect every writer's thoughts here at K-world Style. I categorized this not by if they look good or not but also by their choices. Some may look incredible but their styling is dull.

The Hot
(best dressed)

Lee Hyori
With this dress can anyone deny Lee Hyori's presence?
She gives off a high class mixed with 'what are you looking at' style in her Roberto Cavailli dress and her signature 'Bad Girls' dark makeup. The dress looks better from the side than front.

Ryu Seung Ryong
Oh, the charisma. Not many people can wear blue to a blue carpet. What can I say, he looks good.

SHINee
SHINee pulls off one of the hardest things to do. Their outfits are the perfect mix of matching but with individuality, something groups often have a hard time with. It helps there is only three of them but still, props to you and your stylists.

Kim Jung Min
Here's a hidden gem I didn't expect. She looks high class which is always a good thing. The champagne bronze tone of her dress compliments her skin and the carpet.

The So-So
(looks good but not amazing)

f(x)'s Luna
Luna does not look bad, in fact she looks amazing. It's just this Kwak Hyun Joo dress is so overworn, it's tiring. It's one of those dresses you throw on the last minute because you suddenly remembered you have to go to some fancy-ish event.

INFINITE
They look nice? That pretty much sums it up...They look nice. However, the two white tux and the half leather pant thing in the mix of black just off balances their picture.

SISTAR
I'm not sure how I feel about them...They did it better than Girls Day since their outfits are not white. They do look good, therefore, lands in this category. They can go under 'Hot' but they played it safe. Not to pick favorites but Soyu looks amazing.

JK Kim Dong Wook
Good job stylists, he looks great. He pulls off a white suit well. However, this is very basic. But, I may be asking for too much.

The Not
(worst dressed)

Hwang Jung Eum
This looks like a longer version of a typical Topshop dress with a mixture of a teenage girls' bedding or curtains. I'm serious, if you cut it shorter and put it on Topshop, it's going to fit right in...It can also fit in Asos.

Idols in white - Girls Day
here comes the bride...
I think this is just me. Whenever idols girls wear white dresses with excess amounts of organza, frills, puffiness and/or remotely resembling a wedding dress, I hate it. Even their shoes are dress appropriate for a wedding. It feels like they are trying to portray a feeling of innocence. Stop trying and please wow us with your possible fashion choices.

Ha Yeon Soo
Oh no, this is another one of those 'look I'm no innocent and fairy-like' dresses..to me at least. Her puffiness and organza = 2 Girls Day members.

Yoo Seung Woo
This reminds me too much of an airport outfit. So much Givenchy is seen everyday, another just makes it tiring. Well, at least he didn't wear a Kenzo sweatshirt. I get you are young but that's no excuse, take example of Elle Fanning.

Miss A's Suzy
I'm sorry Suzy. Your red Marchesa dress wasn't too bad. I think this one is a worse offender. There are so many good-looking black bow dresses. Why this one stylists? She lost her body shape and made her proportions look off.

The Rest
By now, I ran out of feels. I will sum up these in a few words. These are just other pictures from the blue carpet. You can be the judge of who dazzles and who fizzles.

                                        Hyoni Kang                                          Cha Ye Ryun
Hyoni with your body you can off anything                           last season
pick something else next time please

Shinhwa
Good but not good enough

Jung Ka Eun                                       CL and Lee Soo Hyuk

awkward                                            Both looks good but Lee Soo Hyuk > CL

Kim Seul Ki                                         Lee Bo Young

Border-lining try hard                                             good but can be better

Lee Juk and John Park                                     Lee Jin Wook
good                                                                               interesting
Daybreak
good
Show Me the The Money Cast
too much
Choi Jin Hyuk
white choclate

That's all. It's quite long huh...

Leave a comment below telling us who you thought was 'hot or not'.
Feel free to disapprove my choices but do tell a reason.

There are many popular Korean dramas that are set in the way past (e.g. 'Faith', 'Arang and the Magistrate', 'The Great Seer', 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal', etc.). I really enjoy seeing this historical fashion while watching these shows. Instead of forcing you all to read about the history of Korean fashion, I decided it would be nice to draw inspiration from these in a Get the Look.

1)
'Faith' (The Great Doctor)
Get the Look: 'Faith' Kdrama

What struck me about Kim Hee Sun's costume is obviously the colors. To recreate this look, go for the blue-violent color, and don't shy away from floral print. The flower band she has was the inspiration for the accessories  which, with such a busy dress, should be limited. Lee Minho's look is much more solid. I found faux-leather leggings and a peplum top that reflect the flowing, multi-textured outfit he wears. And of course, drawing from his bands, wear a cheetah belt as your 'pop' item.
Everything in this look is under $50, expect for the dress, which is $70.

2) 'Arang and the Magistrate'
Get the Look: 'Arang and the Magistrate' kdrama
Lee Joon Gi's character focuses on darker colors, with a peacock feather. I took that idea and ran. Pair a flowy burgundy blouse with a black vest. I would wear both with black jeans, and of course peacock-themed accessories. It's a classic combination (well, kind of...). Shin Min Ah rocks the color blocking look. With so many colors, stay solid; don't try too many patterns. I want a more structured top to parallel the structure of a hanbok, but it's an individual thing. My fun item is the dragon ring, which matches the belt.
Everything in this set is under $40, except for the vest, which is $49.

Get the Look: The Great Seer
What really strikes me about the pictures I found is the contrast between the magistrates and the warrior. I loved the rich colors worn by both the man and the woman in the first picture. So their colors are gold, jade, teal, and red. In the second picture, the fierceness of the man's posture stood out to me. His themes are fur, deep magenta, and animals (i.e. leather and the graphic tank top).
Everything listed is under $30.

The feeling of Sungkyunkwan is a lot more fun. To match Song Joon Gi, I found a lovely dress and cardigan, which show his eccentric fashion choices. For the group shot, I thought being more traditional was better. Thus, I've included a (more) structured blouse, pants, and flats. Also, to compliment the traditional tie in the picture, I've included a coat which cinches at the waist.
Everything in this set is under $100.
